Glenn Heights

Stephen Glen Cosgrove, 63, of Glenn Heights, Texas passed from this life May 2, 2020 after a long illness.  He was born August 17, 1956 to Owen and Sue Cosgrove in Robert Lee, Texas.  He attended elementary school at Northside Elementary in Waxahachie but eventually moved to Denton where he graduated from Denton High School in 1974.

Steve was an accomplished singer, leading the family quartet and leading singing in congregations of the Church of Christ in several cities.  He participated as student and teacher at the Texas Normal Singing School in Sabinal, Texas from 1975-1983 and he collaborated with renowned hymn writer Tillit S. Teddlie on several works.

He graduated from the University of Texas Permian Basin in 1983 and obtained his Master of Fine Arts from Sul Ross State University in 1985.  Steve was an artist and was particularly adept at throwing large Expressionist ceramic pots, several of which were exhibited in juried shows.

He taught art at the University of Texas Permian Basin and Odessa College, and it was there that he met Gayle Jones.  With her four children and his two dogs, they soon became a family.  He was delighted to be a husband and a dad, and he took great pride in the kids’ accomplishments including helping the three boys attain the rank of Eagle Scout.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Gayle, children Bonnie Strain (Lance) of Glenn Heights, Marshall Titus (Eva) of Milford, Christopher Titus (Summer) of Tulia, and Kevin Titus of Glenn Heights.  He was “Poppy” to 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

In addition, he is survived by his mother, Sue Cosgrove of Mineral Wells, sisters, Tana Dixon of Odessa and Linda Cosgrove of Mineral Wells, and brother, Carl Cosgrove of Monroe, Washington.  He was preceded in death by his father, Owen Cosgrove.

Because of current social restrictions, a service will be held at a later date.  Anyone wishing to honor Steve with a contribution may direct it to the American Diabetes Association.
