Palmer

On Thursday, February 25, 2021, Mark Alan Kargel, loving husband, extraordinary father of three children, and grandfather of three children passed away at age 62.

Mark was born on June 17th, 1958 in the city of Brainerd in Crow Wing County, Minnesota to Leonard and Velma Vanscoy Kargel. He graduated from Pequot Lakes High School and continued on to receive his degree from Brainerd Vo-Tech in the field of automotive technology and worked as an automatic technician for 40+ years in Dallas, spending the majority of that time at Dunlap Swain.  On October 18, 1980, he married Lynette Elaine Moberg. They raised one son, Justin, and two daughters, Jaclyn and Janelle.

Mark had several passions in life. From his love of watching birds and trying to figure out how to get certain species to come to his yard (his painted bunting was a special accomplishment) to figuring out how things worked and improving them. From tearing down and rebuilding cars, to finding the right plants for a particular part of the yard, from developing an invention that would make lives easier, to guiding his kids down the best paths in life, he was always trying to make life better for others.

Along with his wife Lynette, Mark was a member of the Oaks Church where he had been growing in Christ for the last 23 years.  He was known for his steadfastness, his ingenuity, and his unwavering love and support of his family.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Leonard, his mother, Velma, and his two brothers Dick and Charlie.  He is survived by his wife Lynette, his children Justin (and his wife Jennifer), Jaclyn (and her husband Jeff), and Janelle; his grandchildren Kade, Kyla, and Lillian; his siblings Larry (and his wife Carol, Myron (and his wife Nancy), JoAnn, Judy (and her husband Roger), (Willie, wife of Dick), and (Naida, wife of Chuck); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. To Mark, who saw no distinction between those born into his family and those brought in by love, they were all his family.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 6th, 2021 at the Oaks Church in Red Oak, TX at 10:30 a.m. Flowers may be sent to 777 I-35E, Red Oak, TX 75154.
