Maida Martin

Maida Belle Florence Martin, 97, of Waxahachie, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2021.

Maida was born in Sioux City, Iowa on January 6, 1924 to Daniel and Gertrude Cadwalder. She was the youngest of five girls, so she never lacked instruction or a playmate.  Her sisters were her best friends throughout her life.

Maida married Maurice Eugene Martin on November 14, 1940, in Houston, Texas, where they made their home for many years.  They had one son, Bert Eugene Martin. Maida was a wonderful cook, an avid fisher, and an astute bookkeeper. During the last 60 years of her life, her church family was her main focus of devotion.

Maida was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Maurice Martin.  She is survived by her son, Bert Martin, and his wife, Cora, of Waxahachie; three grandchildren, Bambi and husband David Bratton of Austin, Jill and husband Monty Tew of Round Rock, and Jerad Martin of Waxahachie. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Chase, Ford and Gabriel Tew and Kinsley, Lily, and Logan Martin.

Burial will be at Caddo Cemetery, Joshua, Texas, this spring, her favorite time of the year.
