Luther Coleson Jr.

July 2, 1942 — June 9, 2022

Waxahachie

Wesley Coleson, 79, born Luther Wesley Coleson Jr, went to his heavenly home to be with his Savior on Thursday June 9 at his home in Reagor Springs, TX.

As a child, Wesley lived in Carlsbad, New Mexico, Killeen, TX and Fort Worth, TX.  He didn’t have an easy life as a child but he made the most of his adult life by accomplishing all the things he set his mind to completing.

At 18, Wesley got his barbers license which started his career that took him across the country and eventually to Anchorage, Alaska in 1963.  He even became the concessionaire for all the barbershops and beauty salons at Ft Richardson Army Base and Elmendorf Airforce Base.

Wesley traveled back to Texas where he met and married Patricia Ann Zawadzki Oliver on February 14, 1978.  They headed back to Alaska, driving the Alcan with their 3 boys.  Wesley fulfilled a lifelong dream and built a cabin in the woods in the summer of 1981 in Alaska.

In 1985, Wesley and Patricia moved back to Texas, settling in Reagor Springs.  Together they owned and operated Waxahachie Custom Painting, and the well-known and loved Lil Red Wagon BBQ.

In 2002, Wesley was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer.  But the Lord wasn’t done with Wesley’s time on earth and extended his life.  Wesley realized this was God’s doing and dedicated the rest of his life to serving God and being a good servant.  In 2005, Wesley was ordained and became a pastor at First Baptist Church of Eureka.  This was his passion, to share the good word of God’s love and the gift of salvation offered through his Son Jesus Christ.  Wesley loved the Lord and wanted to be sure that those around him had a relationship with our Lord and Savior.

Wesley impacted the lives of everyone who knew him, strangers were quickly made to be friends.  He was very talented, compassionate, loving and creative.   He was the best story teller, fisherman, baker and cook. Everything he prepared was delicious because it was always made with lots of love.

Wesley was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  Wesley was an amazing “Popo” to his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his sons, Luther “Dean” Coleson, son Darrell Lesley Coleson and parents Monroe and Netha Truelove Schorn.

Survived by his wife Patricia Ann Coleson of Waxahachie, sons David Wesley Coleson in Kenai, AK; Marcus “Moose” Coleson in Ft Worth, TX; Leland “Tater” Coleson in Seattle, WA; Steven Ray Oliver in Sugarland, TX; Allen Glenn Oliver (Jennifer) in Paducah, KY. Grandchildren: Michelle Reine Cabrera (Jacob), Michael Allen Oliver (Liz), Matthew Glen Oliver (Emily) and Tyler Wesley Coleson and great grandchildren: David, Ethan and Chloe.
