Sterling Lionel Hazard

Born:  November 25, 1934

Passed:  June 4, 2021

Lionel grew up on the family farm in Ellis County with one brother and two sisters.  He attended Ferris schools and graduated from there.  He met and fell in love with Regina Hamm.  They married in 1957 and moved to Red Oak.  The had two Sons, Keith and Kirk.  Lionel worked at Trego Ind for almost fifty years.  Following his retirement from there he worked for local funeral homes until a few years ago.

Lionel enjoyed wood working, he made toys for his grandsons.  The great grandkids now play with them.  He also enjoyed tracking the weather; if there was bad weather, he always checked on all of us.  He also enjoyed High School football.

Lionel and Regina were very active in their church, First United Methodist of Red Oak.  Lord’s Acre was their pride and joy.  They traveled with friends to Branson, Alaska and Disneyland on 9-11 no less.

Lionel loved his wife, family, friends and his puppy Gidget.  He and Regina were blessed with many good friends over the years.  He is in heaven now with Regina; I know she met him at the gate saying, “where have you been”?  Lionel was always there is you needed him, he was a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes.  He wouldn’t brag on himself, but we are!

Lionel served his community and their church in many ways with multiple leadership roles; God’s servant for 86 years; Red Oak City Council; Red Oak Mayor; Red Oak Football scoreboard; Red Oak Fire Department 1956-1980; Assistant Fire Chief 1960-1970; Fire Chief 1970-1980.  He was even in the movie, “Bonnie and Clyde” with the fire truck.

Always in our thoughts and prayers,

Your loving family
