Larry James York
Larry James York of Palmer, Texas passed away into Heaven on February 14th, 2021 surrounded by his daughters Carrie and Heather, and family at the age of 74. He was born November 21, 1946 to parents James and Iva Jo York in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas along with his older sister.
After graduating from Grand Prairie High-School, he bravely served in the U.S. Navy as a steel worker in the Vietnam War. It was there, he was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal for heroic achievement. Having a humble nature, he never spoke about receiving this great honor.
Thereafter, Larry became very productive and successful in the oilfield and working for DART. He never met a stranger and loved telling stories to just about anyone he encountered. He loved gardening, fishing, and building things. He also loved collecting things in hopes of meeting a need for someone who could use them in the future.
Though sometimes he presented himself with a tough exterior, he was a very caring and compassionate person. He loved purchasing school supplies for teachers and students (he never wanted any student to go without). Larry had a deep love for his children and grandchildren and often spoke of them to his friends and co-workers. Dad, Grandad, B-Gat, and friend you are truly missed by all.
22 So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.” John 16:22
Larry was preceded in death by his parents James and Iva Jo York
He is survived by his daughters Carrie York and Heather Brown (Chad Brown, son-in-law), Grandkids: Quentin Aldredge, Ty Aubrey, Blake Aubrey, Carston Brown and Karys Brown and Sister, Sandra Sramek (and nephews) of Midlothian, Texas.
