Waxahachie

Landon Richard Jernigan passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at the age of 29 years old. He was born to James Jernigan and Amy Davis in Irving, Texas, on March 1, 1992. A celebration of life will be held at 10am, Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Wayne Boze Funeral Chapel In Waxahachie, Texas. .

He is preceded in death by his great grandparents, George and Merle Duke; Grandparents Dr. Samuel and Carolyn Jernigan; three uncles: Ronnie Duke, David Jernigan, and Bryan Jernigan; and cousins Christopher Jordan and Molly Jordan. He will forever be missed by his mother, Amy Davis; Father, James Jernigan; Little Sister and unconditional soul partner, Laighton Paige Jernigan; Grandparents, Garey and Fay Davis; Uncles, Ron Jones and Bruce Jernigan; Aunts, Cathy Barnes, Kathryn Adams, Julia Jernigan Gibson, and Sharon Salinas; as well as many cousins, extended family members, and countless friends.

Landon’s childhood was abundant with love, nature, and learning. His parents and extended family devoted much of their time introducing Landon to books, learning games, fishing, hunting and music. By the time he was three years old he could name every state and its capital, and identify virtually prehistoric giant that walked the earth. During hunting seasons he would go on long adventures in the great outdoors to hunt deer and dove with his Papa, Dad and uncles. His natural talent for making music started early and was nurtured throughout his life. On weekends and special occasions one could find Landon singing along with his Pawpaw, who played guitar and banjo. A graduate of Midlothian High School in 2010, Landon went on to West Coast University, where he received his Bachelors of Science in Nursing.

Landon's greatest loves in life were music and his family.  He was a gifted poet, songwriter, and phenomenal guitar player with the ability to improvise like no other. Besides the guitar, he enjoyed exploring new instruments – he was learning the sitar at the time of his passing. Landon loved his Mama, Dad and Depp more than anything in the world, and was so proud of them.  A lifelong student, he self-taught himself many chemical compounds and amassed an encyclopedic knowledge of nature and animals. He doted on his pet turtle Tiny and dog companion LuLu. Fishing at the coast with his dad and uncles was a standing road-trip as often as they could break away. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and was always excited for football season to start.

Please join family and friends to celebrate Landon’s life at his memorial. Wear your favorite band t-shirt as we share memories, hugs and fellowship together.
