John Walter Williams, 88 from Waxahachie Texas, formerly of Angleton Texas, passed away unexpectedly in Fort Worth, TX on May 18 due to an unfortunate fall in the home. He broke his hip which led to medical complications.

John moved around with his family to various parts of Oklahoma until his family settled in Phillips, Texas, where he graduated from Phillip’s High School in 1951. Upon graduation he joined the the Army. He lived in Germany for four years and he loved it. He loved talking about being in Germany and the places he traveled while living there.

Thank goodness for Google Maps. He learned how to navigate Google Earth and Street View and he was able to travel down memory lane almost daily.

Upon returning home from Germany he went to work for Phillip’s Petroleum. He met the love of his life, Martha Cryer while working at Phillip’s in Borger, Texas.

He and Martha married in 1961 and in 1963 had a daughter. Then transferred with his job to Old Ocean, Texas. His stay with Phillips Petroleum was short-lived due to Monsanto building a new facility in Alvin Texas Where he accepted a new position and moved his family to Angleton Texas. He worked for Monsanto until retiring in 1992. Once he retired he became the most attentive and loving care giver for Martha until her passing in 2013. He resided in Angleton Texas until March 2020. He moved to Waxahachie to reside with his daughter and her husband.

He was an wonderful husband, father, grandfather and a great grandfather.
