Joanne Harrison

Joanne Eleanor George Harrison, 82, went to be with our Lord on January 19th, 2022, with family by her side.

Joanne was born on September 13th, 1939, to the late John T. and Catherine (Yates) George at her family farm in Rinard, Illinois. On December 30th, 1964, she married Jimmie Wayne Harrison at the Dyess Air Force Base Chapel in Abilene, Texas, and the couple was blessed with four children. In 1965, she and her husband moved the family to Clyde, Texas where they were active members of the First Baptist Church of Clyde and were leaders in the Youth Ministries. Through the years, Joanne worked with the Eula School District and the Taylor County Appraisal District. In 2005, Joanne moved in with her son, Gary, and his family where she was very active in her community. She became a member of the Waxahachie Senior Center where she loved volunteering, attending classes, and going on the many trips they hosted. She enjoyed meeting with her local Red Hats Group and volunteering with the Baylor Auxiliary Group. Joanne was an avid reader, loved poker nights at Rockett Café, cooking out with her family and swimming in the pool.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John T. and Catherine George, her husband, Jimmie Wayne Harrison, one son, William Gregory Harrison, and her brother, John E. George.

Joanne is survived by three children; Guy and wife Debbie Harrison, Gary and wife Donna Harrison, Amy and husband James Bowlin. Eight grandchildren; Jessica Harrison, Rebecca and Matthew Perkins, Kati and Greg Martin, Alyssa Harrison and Darrin Wiley, and Emily Bowlin. Four great-grandchildren Keily, Tod, and Paige Perkins, and Weston Martin, with baby boy Martin on the way.

Joanne was especially thankful for daughter in law, Donna, who cared for her for the last 17 years. Gary, Donna, and their children would like to thank the many caregivers and therapists Joanne had over the years, as well as Bristol Hospice for their compassionate assistance in her final days.
