Jeannie Carpenter

January 28, 1948 — March 27, 2020

Waxahachie

On March 27, 2020, Mrs. Doris Eugenia Kilmer Carpenter, known as Jeannie, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed from this life and is no longer suffering.  Born in Clarksville, Texas, on January 28,1948, Jeannie is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Ron Carpenter, her daughter Wendi Dawne Chandler and partner Darrell Johnston of Dallas, precious granddaughter April Starr Chandler of Dallas, and talented grandson Brandon Jacob Chandler, also of Dallas.

Her sister Joyce Kilmer, brother Donald Kilmer, and her parents Leon and Willie Kilmer all preceded her in death.

Jeannie, or Gigi as she was affectionately known, was an extremely talented and creative designer who had an eye for photography.  The endless boxes of photos and albums are a testament to this.  Her granddaughter Starr inherited her talents in drawing, art, and painting.  She said many times the music gene always skipped a generation, since her grandson is a talented musician.  But she was a true Elvis and Beatles fan back in the day.

Though she loved her home in the Texas countryside, she was able to travel the world and was taken from us too soon.

In the 70’s, Jeannie was a Cockrell Hill police officer.  It was on a late evening call to her precinct that she met her soon to be favorite policeman, Ron.  This led to many happy years together enjoying movies, Rangers baseball games, traveling, shopping, and redecorating their beautiful house.  She was a collector of many things, including fairies, pigs, books, and old movies.

Jeannie possessed a deep desire to take care of everyone she loved.  Both her grandkids have their own bedrooms in her home where they could stay the night whenever they wanted to.  She had many dear friends who loved to get together for meals.  Jeannie had great fun leading her book club.  You were always assured of a good conversation with Jeannie.

A come and go time of remembrance will be held this Friday, April 3, 2020, between 4 and 5pm at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home at 1826 W. Hwy 287 Business in Waxahachie, Texas (www.waynebozefuneralhome.com).  We ask that all visitors practice social distancing and entrance to the funeral home will be limited.

Jeannie will be interred at the DFW National Cemetery.
