Janet Abigail Smith (Jan)
March 20, 1941-July 19, 2021 (Age 80)
Jan entered Heavens Gates to spend eternal life on July 19,2021.
She was born in North Plainfield, New Jersey in the Amish Community in 1941 and was adopted by Leroy and Ruth Blaisdell in 1946. She attended Red Bank High School in New Jersey as well as attending Monmouth College in New Jersey.
Jan had two children. Kevin Lightfoot was born in May of 1965 and after moving to Texas in 1970, Leslie was born in May of 1971.
In 1976 she met her loving husband Tony Smith and would be married for 33 years before Tony’s passing in 2009. Jan and Tony were members of the University Assembly God Church and worked at the Waxahachie Daily Light for 18 years.
Jan had a variation of hobbies that she loved: Playing the piano for hours, knitting, square dancing, cooking (and goodness could she cook!), collecting TY Beanie Babies, and garage sales every weekend. Everyone that knew her as Ms. Smith or Ms. Jan knew she was so sweet and loving.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents Leroy and Ruth Blaisdell of Jensen Beach, Florida. Husband Tony Milton Smith of Waxahachie, Texas. Mother-in-Law Ora Mae Smith of Waxahachie, Brother-in-Law Lawrence Fisher of Waxahachie, Texas, Step Niece Lisa Fisher of Waxahachie. And Special Friends Jerry and Wilma Holder of Waxahachie.
Jan is survived by her loving son Kevin Donoroy Lightfoot of Euless, Texas. Loving Daughter and Son-in-Law, Gary and Leslie Motter of Hubbard, Texas. Stepdaughter Victoria Smith Hafeli of Hamilton, Texas. Granddaughters Ashley Lightfoot of Waxahachie, Stephanie Hill of Waxahachie, Texas and Jasmine Holder of Austin, Texas. Grandsons Kyle David Motter of Hubbard, Texas and James Holder of Austin, Texas. Sister-in-Law Linda Fisher of Waxahachie, Texas. 4 Great Grandchildren.
Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 11:00am Monday, July 26th, 2021, at Wayne Boze Funeral Home Waxahachie, Texas. Visitation for Family and Friends will be held at 9am till 11:00am on Monday, July 26th, 2021.
