Tribute

Grace E. (Noyes) Hunt  –  91, Waxahachie, Texas

Grace Elinor Hunt (Noyes) passed away on July 15, 2021 peacefully in her home in Waxahachie, Texas. She was born on November 21, 1929 in Charlestown, Rhode Island to her late parents William and Loella Noyes. As a teenager she worked at the Richmond Lace Mill in Rhode Island with her mother who used to say that Grace would get caught standing at the top of the stairs and singing at the top of her lungs.  She had two sisters, Anna, and Evelyn.  In the 1940s she married and had two daughters.  In 1954, she married Ronald R. Cyr, Sr. and they had 4 daughters and she had a stepson.  In 1959, the family moved to California where they had their youngest daughter.  Grace lived in many places including Rhode Island, California, Florida, Louisiana, and Texas.   Later on, Grace moved back to Rhode Island to spend time with her mom and stayed until she retired at age 83.  During her lifetime, Grace had many jobs:  she managed a group of strawberry stands for Bobalu where she earned her nickname “Cindy Lou” the Strawberry Queen, was the co-owner of a produce store, a manager of a local watering hole, worked at Gulf Air, and was a cook at a local truck stop.  Grace’s true passion was to help others, and started her care giving journey as a CNA.  She worked with patients each having different ailments including Alzheimer’s and Dementia; she even cared for the mother of the former famous Cincinnati Red’s broadcaster George Grande. There was no limit to the care she could give, and she left her mark on every family’s heart.  She loved what she did, and her patients loved her.   When Grace retired at 83, she decided to move to Waxahachie, Texas to enjoy her retirement with one of her daughters and some of her grandchildren. Grace was always the life of the party, when she was younger she loved to take the train to New London where she would flirt with the sailors.  Grace loved to dance & listen to music – classic country was her favorite.  She adored dogs, enjoyed rides in the car, getting pampered at the nail salon, and of course all the trips to Shreveport where she was spoiled rotten.  Grace never met a stranger, and she became part of each family everywhere she went.  Grace had a total of 72 Grandchildren that includes Great and Great Great Grandchildren (5 generations).  Grace was Grandma to many, she loved life, but most of all she loved her family.

Grace is survived by her daughters Candace Steadman and husband Jim Steadman of Exeter, RI; Roann Sulak and husband Calvin Sulak of Waxahachie, TX; Danielle Trombino and fiancé Jesse Powell of Guilford, CT.  (19) Grandchildren including: Kimberly Dove,  Matthew Remsen and wife Michaela Remsen, Kristen Blanchette and husband Joe Blanchette, Courtney Steadman, Brandon Cyr, Azurdee Andrade, Jeremy Cunningham, Nichole Cunningham, Ryan Cunningham and wife Deidra Cunningham, Denaze Springer, Caleb Anderson, Clinton Sulak-Tovar and husband Joey Tovar, Clayton Sulak, Destinee Farmer and husband Jay Farmer, Melody Miller and husband Jay Miller, Calvin Sulak Jr and wife Pam Sulak, Mindy Thomas and husband Tom Thomas, Savana Greene and husband Steven Greene, and E-V Powell.
