Geraldine Sullivan

Geraldine “Jerre” Conner Sullivan was the eldest of two daughters born to Thomas Patrick Conner and Ethel Faye Tate.

Jerre was born on May 24, 1918.  She was married to Claude Lewis Sullivan for 43 years.  She grew up on the family farm between Red Oak and Ovilla.  She graduated from Red Oak High School, attended NTAC in Arlington and received a Bachelor’s degree from North Texas University and a Master’s degree from East Texas State University.

She is preceded in death by her sister Sarah Jeannette Hopkins and her nephew, Robert Hopkins.   She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elaine Malloy and her husband Dr. John Malloy of Memphis, Tenn. and Janet Sullivan of San Antonio, Texas and two granddaughters Janet Malloy Link and Bethany Ellen Malloy of Dallas, Texas.

Jerre taught school for 23 years in Ovida, Florida, Maypearl, Texas and Marvin Elementary in Waxahachie, Texas.  Following 23 years of teaching, she fulfilled a high school ambition and joined the staff of Nicholas P. Sims Library where she worked for 25 years.

In her later days, she spoke of her joy filled experiences while teaching and her treasured students, coworkers and friends.  She and her family were long time members of Central Presbyterian Church of Waxahachie, Texas.

In her spare time, she enjoyed many travels and gathered friends all over.  She never forgot her wonderful friends.  Life for Jerre was an adventure full of goodness, mercy and love for all and a good laugh every day.

Jerre was loved by many and will be missed greatly by all.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later time.
