Donald Eugene Tedmon

March 29, 1930 ~ May 10, 2022 (age 92)

Tribute

“If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John13:4) That promise was fulfilled for Donald Eugene Tedmon on 10 May, 2022 when he passed quietly into eternity. He was 92.

Don was a retired military man, having spent almost two and a half years in the Naval Reserve before enlisting in the active duty Air Force. He served on active duty for over 20 years until his honorable retirement in March, 1971.

After retiring, Don became the custodian at a small school in southwest Montana. He seldom referred to himself as a school janitor; he preferred simply to say that he was cleaning up in education. He also went to Vo-Tech school and was certified as a small engine mechanic in 1977. He worked as a small engine mechanic at Owenhouse Ace Hardware in Bozeman, MT for 17 years. Don has also been a truck driver, hospital custodian and Walmart Associate before finally retiring altogether.

Don was a man of faith, and was considered a pillar of the churches he was a member of. He was ordained as a deacon, and served a number of churches in that capacity. He was also a Scoutmaster, square dancer and one-time avid bowler. His favorite self-designation, however, was Grumpy Old Man. He proudly wore that title on his hat until his death.

Don was preceded in death by his wife Grace, his son Christopher, his brother Leslie (Buzz) and by his grandson Lance Tedmon and great grandson Jonathon Popkes. He is survived by his brother Cliff, his daughters Jacqueline Kanta and Deborah Johnston, and his sons Timothy, Anthony, Thomas and Brett. He also leaves numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family would also like to gratefully acknowledge the compassionate care Don was given by Vickie of Visiting Angels and by the professionals of Hospice Plus.

Memorial services and interment at the Leavenworth National Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
