Dolores Ann Ball Travis, age 84, passed away peacefully on March 24. 2021 in her home in Irving, Texas.

She was born to Hobson Ball and Opal Curry Ball on December 1, 1936 in Forreston, Texas. She spent most of her life in Ellis County, Sterrett, Forreston, and Waxahachie. She met the love of her life, Alfred Murray Travis in high school in Forreston. They married on December 22, 1956 and spent a lifetime of 64 married years being role models for a great love and marriage.

Ann was a graduate of Forreston High School and earned her Bachelor and Masters of Education from North Texas State University and Texas Women’s University in Denton, Tx. She raised 3 daughters and worked in public education. She taught kindergarten and early childhood special education in Waxahachie and Avalon Texas. She is remembered by her students as “the best kindergarten teacher.”

She was a loving and dedicated mother and family always came first. She was at every school play, sports event and made birthdays and holidays special events that we will always remember. Mama to her daughters and Gran to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a sweet and gentle soul and was kind to everyone as that was her nature. She loved to travel, and we took many family trips throughout the years. She particularly loved Las Vegas, Hawaii, Greece, Turkey Caribbean.

She was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Waxahachie for many years. She loved to cook her “famous” recipes for family events. She loved to watch TV and movies and blue bonnets and most of all, she loved her husband and family.

Ann has joined the love of her life, Al, her mother and father, Hobson and Opal Ball and her sister, Marjorie Redmond, who have preceded her in death. Those who will miss and remember her always include her 3 daughters, Kim Travis Scoggins and husband, Dale of Texas, Debra Travis of Irving and husband Lance who also preceded her in death, and Leanne Travis of Dallas. She is survived by her nephew, Mike Redmond and great nephew, Lucas Redmond. Her grandchildren gave her great joy and include Michelle Recksiek Castaneda and husband Adrian of Bellville, Amanda Recksiek and fiancé Chris West, of Corsicana, Daniel Murray Recksiek and wife Alex of Colorado Springs, CO., Travis Matthew Recksiek and wife Lindsey of Corsicana, Kenneth Scoggins and wife Krystina, of Waxahachie and Brittany Scoggins of Arlington. Fifteen great grandchildren also filled her life with joy and fun.

A memorial service will be held at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, located at 1826 W. Hwy. 287 Business in Waxahachie, Texas on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 11:00 AM followed by Inurnment at Red Oak Cemetery.
