OBITUARY

Debbie J. Box, age 66, of Waxahachie, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at her home, after a long battle with cancer.  Debbie was born, in the afternoon, on March 2, 1954, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.  She was the daughter of James Euwing and Lois Jean Smith.

Debbie grew up in Stigler, Oklahoma and attended Stigler High School. In 1984 she moved to Waxahachie, Texas.  She spent over 20 years as a banker, but in 2003 decided to join her husband in the insurance industry.  Debbie and David owned insurance agencies for almost 20 years.  During her years of raising daughters and working, Debbie still found time to give back to her community.  She volunteered her time on the Waxahachie Gingerbread Trail, March of Dimes, Red Oak Chamber of Commerce, Helping Hands of Ennis, Waxahachie Downtown Merchants Association and Ellis County Art Association.

She loved to spend her time painting with watercolors, learning a new knitting pattern, throwing pottery, traveling with her husband, shopping, and talking with her girls, walking the beach with her best friend, and hearing about her grandchildren’s accomplishments.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Lois Smith, paternal grandparents May and Minnie Smith, and maternal grandparents Eugene and Amel Tatum.  Survivors include: her husband, David Brent Box of Waxahachie, Texas; four daughters and their husbands, Wendy and Neil Poynor of Waxahachie, Texas, Stephanie and Chad Alexander of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Nickie and JJ Weyrauch of Waxahachie, Texas, Jennifer and Joe Knapp of Midlothian, Texas; two sisters and a brother, Judy Beller, Liz Hendrix, and James Smith; eleven grandchildren, Nathan Weyrauch, Megan Nickels, Daken Milligan, Hunter Poynor, Cannon Weyrauch, Keller Milligan, Jeffery Knapp, Jakob Knapp, Kayson Weyrauch, Lily Alexander and Jaycee Knapp; two great-grandchildren, Atalie and Wyatt Nickels.
