Carol Myers

March 27, 1957 — October 9, 2021

Midlothian

Carol Bruce Myers passed away at the age of 64 on October 9, 2021, in Waxahachie Texas.

Carol was born in Memphis, TN and adopted by Owen and Vivian Bruce at birth. She has a younger sister, Nancy Bruce Koenig, who joined their family through adoption. After Carol completed first grade her family moved to Richardson, TX where she completed her schooling.

Carol graduated high school in the first graduating class at Garland Christian Academy and earned a bachelor’s degree in Education and Church Ministries from Liberty University. She loved working with children and had the gift of teaching, which led her to a successful career as a school teacher. She spent more than 20 years working with children of various ages in private schools of North Texas

Carol was also a devoted member of Lavon Drive Baptist Church. She loved being a part of the church’s community for most of her life. Her life verse was Isaiah 12:2, “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”

During her free time, she enjoyed camping with her family, teaching piano lessons, and being creative with arts and crafts, which she sold out of her home. Carol’s father had a side hobby of flying airplanes, and Carol grew up fascinated by them. She always carried love for aviation and spent many hours at the airport watching planes. She also made many sweet memories with her family in Breckenridge, Colorado. She enjoyed skiing and shopping at the local shops. Her favorite shop was “Creatures Great and Small.”

Carol is survived by her husband, Gary Myers, who is a Battalion Chief with the Waxahachie Fire Department. She loved being a mother to her two adopted children, John and Elina Myers, who joined their family from Latvia in 2016. Gary has one son from his first marriage, Daniel Myers, who she considered to be one of her own children. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Taylor (8) and Hope (4).

Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Lavon Drive Baptist Church located at 1520 Lavon Drive, Garland, Texas 75040. Donations in her name may be made to the Matt Jones Camp Fund at Lavon Drive Baptist Church.
