Carlos enlisted into the Air Force at the age of eighteen; serving as a Civil Engineer eventually retiring after 22 years as a Master Sergeant. He utilized the skills the military equipped him with to develop a career at UT Southwestern. After meeting Raquel, he joyfully married the love of his life on August 21st, 1971. They resided in Del Rio where Carlos was stationed for 18 years and eventually settling down in the Dallas area to enjoy their children, grandchildren, and many family members. Carlos and Raquel were very much in love. Carlos always had a smile on his face he was a giving person and had such a servant's heart for his wife, living out what it means to love unconditionally. Raquel would always insist on dancing with Carlos, whether it was from their first meeting or in their last days together. “To Those Who Loved Us”
The Day God Called You Both Home
You never said I'm leaving
You never said goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knew why
In life you were both loved Deeply
In death we love you still
In our hearts you hold a special place
No one could ever fill
A million times we pleaded for you
A million times we cried
If love alone could have saved you
You would have never died
It broke our hearts to lose you both
But you didn't go alone
For part of us went with you
The Day God Called You Home
