Waxahachie

Bobby Joe Westbrook, 88, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on December 13, 1931 to Frank and Robbie Westbrook in Rankin, Texas. Bobby graduated from Avalon High School where he met and then married his childhood sweetheart, Wanda Fern.  He attended college in Arlington, Texas until his father became ill and he returned home to help with the family farm.

Bobby learned to fly an airplane before he was old enough to obtain a license.  He had a true passion for flying, whether for business or just the pleasure of soaring through the air.  Bobby also spent many hours on his Harley Davidson motorcycle enjoying the thrill of the ride.

He wore many hats during his life.  As a young man farming the land, growing cotton, corn and grains, he was honored as Outstanding Young Farmer in Ellis County in 1964.  Bobby also taught dancing at the Arthur Murray and Xavier Cugat Dance Studios.  He was part owner with several Dallas Cowboys players at the Silver Helmet Restaurant and Bar in Dallas, Texas in the early 1970’s.  Bobby also had business ventures in Mexico, and owned and actively worked a gold mine north of Wickenburg, Arizona.

Bobby has held a Texas Real Estate License since 1964.  He worked as a Real Estate Salesman with various offices in the area before starting his own company, Hi View Real Estate.  Later he became a partner in Eagle 1 Real Estate.

Bobby had a very strong faith and was actively involved with both the Men’s Downtown Bible Class and the Cowboy Church, including being an Executive Board Member of Cowboy Up International Ministries.  Bobby was also involved with the Masonic Lodge, the Order of the Eastern Star, Scottish Rite Hospital and Shriners International.

Bobby was welcomed into heaven by his daughter, Linda Jo Westbrook Oakes, and his son, Donnie Westbrook; his parents, Frank and Robbie Westbrook; along with brothers, Allen, Alvis and Nolan Westbrook, and sister, Lourene Emery; and many other family members.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Wanda Almand Westbrook of Waxahachie; his daughter, Laurie Westbrook Jeffry and husband, Tony, of Plano, Texas; his granddaughter, Aubrie Jeffry of Plano, Texas, and grandson Avery Jeffry of Sacramento, California; his sister Glenda Edwards of Nashville, Tennessee; his brother-in-law Darrell Almand and wife, Janis, of Irving, Texas;  and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Saturday, February 22, 2020.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Sunday, February, 23, 2020.  Wayne Boze Funeral Home, 1826 W Hwy 287 Business, Waxahachie, Texas 75165.  Interment to follow at Hillcrest Burial Park, Waxahachie, Texas.
