Blair Savage

August 26, 1961 — September 10, 2020

Waxahachie

Blair Allen Savage of Waxahachie, Texas passed away early Thursday morning, September 10, 2020. Blair was born in Houston, Texas to E. Leon Savage and Veva Rose Savage.  Blair was raised in Houston and was a 1979 graduate of Spring Woods High School – Go Tigers!  Blair received his Bachelor of Arts in Government from Angelo State University in 1999.  He did a LOT of living in those 20 years between high school and college!  He lived in Nashville for a while and toured and played guitar for the likes of Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, the Oak Ridge Boys and even played on a number one record for Gail Davies.  He played the Grand Ole Opry, Madison Square Garden and several other famous concert venues.  After graduating from ASU, Blair received a call from Dewayne Osborne, the Head Football Coach at Red Oak High School.  That call changed his life!  He loved football (especially the OU Sooners) and to be able to coach his favorite sport and teach Government (his favorite subject) was too good to pass up!  While teaching and coaching in Red Oak, he met his wife, Pam Batson Savage.  They were married on June 14, 2006 in Waxahachie, Texas.  Blair and Pam loved to host parties and entertain people in their home in Red Oak. They would have EPIC Christmas parties where you could find no less than 8-9 Christmas trees beautifully decorated and proudly displayed by Blair in their home.  Christmas was his favorite holiday!  After leaving coaching, Blair worked various jobs in the corporate world before starting his own hot shot company, Hot Shot Coach.

Blair’s love for life and people, was only outshone by his love for his Savior, Jesus Christ!  After rededicating his life to the Lord in 2013, Blair dove headfirst into his calling!  Blair and Pam went on several missions trips, including trips to Albania and Mexico.  Blair was a people magnet.  They gravitated to him from everywhere.  From “big shots” to no-names, people all over the world were drawn to Blair.  He was able to make them all feel like they were the most important person on the planet.  He loved BIG!

Blair is survived by his wife, Pam Batson Savage of Waxahachie, Texas, son and wife, Adam and Catie Smith of Waxahachie, Texas, son, Steven Smith of Waxahachie, Texas, and daughter and husband, Abby and Tyler Vestal of Red Oak, Texas.  His three grandchildren: Riley Nicole Sachtleben, Lynnlee Kay Smith and Leland Douglas Smith.  Blair is also survived by his Mother, Veva Rose Savage of Houston, Texas, brother and wife, Brent and Leanne Savage of Houston, Texas, and sister and husband, Lynette and Norman Janes of Houston, Texas.  He also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, his church small group family (In His Name) and a host of friends.

Blair is preceded in death by his father, E. Leon Savage, and his grandparents, Bentley and Nancy Rose and Eschol and Rosa Savage.
