Virginia Ann Murphy was born in Wichita, Kansas, on September 17, 1947, and passed away on May 21, 2026, at Red Oak Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Virginia graduated from Conway Springs High School in Kansas on May 19, 1966, and then went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from Kansas State Teachers College. After moving to Texas, she met her husband, James Joseph Murphy; they were married on February 23, 1974.

While Virginia spent most of her life as a homemaker, she was deeply involved with her church community. For 25 years she dedicated her time to Project Gabriel, a cause very close to her heart. Joining Saint Joseph Catholic Church was not just about becoming another parishioner; it was about being part of a community that brought her joy, faith, and lasting friendships throughout her life.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, James Joseph Murphy, and her parents, Wendelin and Martha (Seiler) Seiwert. She is survived by her two daughters, Jamie Murphy and Julia Alkamha, and her son-in-law, Sam Alkamha, of Red Oak, Texas. Virginia was the eldest of five siblings: Charlotte Gehrer, Steve (and Connie) Seiwert, Wanda (and Fred) McBride, and Victoria (and Gerald) Pettegrew.

We wish to extend a special thanks to the Altar Society, Choir, Rosary Group, Knights of Columbus, and many others from Saint Joseph's Catholic Church for their prayers and assistance during this time.
