Virginia Ann Grier, age 83, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Virginia was born on April 25, 1943, in Waxahachie, Texas, to Emmett Franklin and Beatrice Emeline Chipman. She resided there throughout her life, where she raised her family and served her community. Virginia lived a life full of faith and was a devoted wife, beloved mother, and mother-in-law, cherished daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loyal sister, cousin, aunt, and friend.

To know Virginia was to love her, and she never met a stranger. She was a gentle and compassionate soul while also having an honest, funny, and fierce personality. Virginia was a graduate of Waxahachie High School, Class of 1961, and was a member of Ferris Avenue Baptist Church during her youth. During high school, she worked at the downtown hamburger stand that she would eventually own before selling it to what became Oma’s Jiffy Burger. Virginia had a strong work ethic and served as the Produce Manager at Kroger for over 20 years before retiring. A caretaker at heart, she also cared for her mother and father from a young age.

In her spare time, she loved telling stories about life, doing crafts and puzzles, and getting her hair and nails done. Above all, Virginia’s greatest joy was her family and friends. She loved them deeply and treasured every moment spent together.

She was a fighter and a picture of strength, enduring much pain and loss throughout her lifetime. She faced hardship with grace and perseverance, calling upon our Heavenly Father to sustain her through every trial.

Those left to cherish her memory are: her daughters, Kathy Rose; Teresa Elson and husband, Joe; Tammy Renfro; Darla Amick and husband, Butch; Karen Grier; and her daughter-in-law, Cindy Grier. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jason Grier and wife, Rachel; Matthew Grier; Mindy Tennison and husband, Scott; Monica Ims and husband, Brandon; Rickey Shane Rose; Marla Walker; Charla Rose and husband, Shaun; Justin Brookhart and wife, Erin; Ashlee Krugh and husband, Nick; Austin Elson; Halee Tucker and husband, Brent; Megan Renfro; Tyler Renfro and wife, Rachel; Tanner Renfro; Emma Jackson and husband, Jansson; Abby Amick; and Logan and Eli Waldo. She also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, cousins, and extended family.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Miles Roy Chipman; her sister, Bessie Viola Chipman; her husband, Darwin Gene Grier; her sons Dwain and Mikey Grier; her son-in-law, Rickey Rose; and her grandson, Casey Grier.

The visitation will be held on Monday, August 3, at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas, at 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held after the visitation at 2:00 p.m. at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, with a graveside service at Waxahachie Cemetery to follow immediately.
