Sandra LaVerne Goodenough

May 4, 1949 — September 17, 2025

Waxahachie

Sandra LaVerne Goodenough passed away on September 17, 2025. She was born on May 4, 1949 in Baltimore, Maryland to Tullio P. Iodice and L. LaVerne Iodice.

Sandy spent 35 years working with McCormick and Company in Baltimore, Maryland. She began in accounting and later transitioned into the Flavor Division in inside sales. Thanks to her success and outgoing personality, she soon moved into outside sales, where she worked with major clients including Uncle Ben’s Rice, Riviana Food, and Bush’s Beans!

After her retirement from McCormick, Sandy poured her energy into volunteering at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Waxahachie. She served as vice president for two years and president for two years of the Baylor Auxiliary. During her leadership, the auxiliary raised $500,000 and became the number one donor for the new hospital in Waxahachie.

Her commitment to the hospital didn’t stop there. Sandy volunteered in many areas, but her heart was with the Baylor Auxiliary Thrift Store, where she served as committee chair for the past ten years. Under her guidance, the thrift store raised approximately $90,000 each year to support the hospital. Over the course of 17 years, she contributed more than 9,000 volunteer hours.

Outside of work and volunteering, Sandy enjoyed a full and joyful life. She loved fishing, gardening, mowing on the John Deere, cooking with her husband, reading, listening to music, and watching Walker, Texas Ranger. She also enjoyed her time in Ocean City, Maryland.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Tullio P. and L. LaVerne Iodice, and her brother, T. Patrick Iodice Jr.

She was the beloved wife of Donald R. Goodenough and cherished stepmother to Christen G. McGahey. She was also a proud grandmother of five and great-grandmother of ten.

Sandy is survived by her sisters, M. Christine Dickson and Monica I. Bundy & Jack; nephews Jack Bundy III and Jason P. Bundy; and her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Russell, Patrick, Theresa, Timothy, Brenda, Daniel, Peggy, and Kay Goodenough.

Sandy will be remembered for her energy, generosity, and the love she shared with her family and community. She gave her time, her talents, and her heart freely, and her legacy of service will continue to inspire those who knew her.
