Ronald Loy Dunn, age 74, of Waxahachie, Texas, went to meet his Lord and Savior on March 28, 2023. He was born in Mount Pleasant, Texas, on December 22, 1948, to Lovis R. Dunn and Sadie Hanson Dunn.
He graduated from Channelview High School in 1967 and married his high school sweetheart and love of his life for over 55 years, Ennetta Eddins. He worked in the chemical industry until accepting the call to full-time gospel ministry in 1973. He studied at the BMA Theological Seminary in Jacksonville, Texas, and the Criswell Bible Institute in Dallas, Texas. Ordained in 1975, he served faithfully as Pastor for more than 40 years in Baptist churches in Texas and Arkansas, sharing a deep love for God’s Word and developing strong youth ministries. As a printing business owner, Ronald supplemented his ministry work and provided for his family. After retiring in 2015, due to health issues, Ronald and Ennetta moved to Waxahachie where they found an exceptionally loving church family and place for service as members of Pathway Baptist Church, formerly known as Farley Street Baptist Church. The family would like to especially recognize the Friendship Sunday School Class for being a source of great encouragement, support, and close friendships.
Cherished as a hero and Christ-like father by his four sons and loved as proud “Pops” by his eight grandchildren, he looked forward to spending every opportunity to share in their many successes and be available for big hugs and words of encouragement.
Ronald was very talented in working with his hands and particularly passionate about woodworking and making creative gifts for family and friends. He was widely known for his infectious laugh and unique humor, having a special gift for making instant friends with people from all walks of life wherever he went.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister Sonia Butler of Hemphill.
He is survived by his wife Ennetta Dunn and his children, Brian Dunn and wife Randi of Tyler, Nathan Dunn of Dallas, Craig Dunn and wife Shanna of Waxahachie, Matthew Dunn and wife Kendra of Mount Pleasant; his grandchildren, Cade Dunn, Coby Dunn, Madeleine Dunn, Analeigh Dunn, Cannon Dunn, Cooper Dunn, Eastyn Dunn, and Isla Dunn; and brother Dellis Dunn and wife Betty of Austin; sister Julia Odom and husband Merl of Bullard, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
