Raymond Lee Darnell was born on February 12, 1937, in Loco, TX to Ernest and Elbertie Darnell. He married the love of his life, Virginia Louella Wilson, on December 15, 1956 and together they shared 69 years of love, faith, family, and devotion.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Virgie Darnell; children Kathryn (Steven) Robertson, Kent (Renee) Darnell, Kim (Kirby) Jordan; grandchildren Kurt (Alissa) Jordan, Kacey (Collin) Pennington, Kristen (Peter) Martin, Kerry Darnell, Kensey (Sydney) Darnell, Kelsey Darnell, Kristina Darnell, Kentson Darnell, Colton Robertson; step grandchildren Michael, Briana, Britney; great grandchildren Levi, Daniel, Israel, Luke, Hannah, Kirby, Marigold, Lilly; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Elbertie Darnell, his brothers Wayne, JE, Darrell, and sister Dorothy, his infant son Kensey Darnell, and his grandson Kendall Darnell.

Ray was known for his dedication to God and church as he regularly attended and participated in the Church of Christ in Red Oak, TX. He was also recognized for his friendliness, encouragement and generosity. He enjoyed piloting small planes in his younger years, but his favorite pastime was a round of golf with family or friends.

Ray had a strong work ethic. He managed several types of retail stores and eventually formed a tool business. For many years he served the local area as a Mac Tool distributor selling tools to local shops from a commercial tool truck. He loved providing the tools that helped his clients succeed.

Ray was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but they find comfort in knowing he is at peace with the Lord.

Visitation will be at Wayne Boze funeral home on May 15th at 10 am with a graveside service to follow at Gateway Memorial Park at 11 am.
