Michael “Mike” Wayne Findley
DOB 11/18/1953- DOD 1/5/2021
Michael Findley, age 67, of Waxahachie, TX passed away January 5, 2021 due to COVID complications. He was born in Whitney, TX in 1953. Mike graduated from Whitney High School and attended Lubbock Christian University where he majored in Psychology. He was a member of the Chaparral Baseball team and was an active participant in Master Follies.
He was married to Cindy Wiebold Findley for 37 years. Mike was a Superintendent for Temple Emanu-El Cemetery in Dallas for over 30 years. He has a passion for youth sports. He coached baseball, basketball and watched hours of volleyball. He helped build the Optimist Baseball Park in Waxahachie and was an avid supporter of the 817 Baseball Program. Both programs focus on opportunities for diverse youth with a desire to play baseball. Anything his kids had a passion or love for, he had the same passion and love.
He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, many uncles and aunts and his father, Horace, to whom he was close. He is survived by his wife Cindy, his mother Phyllis, his aunt Billy Barnett, and his 4 children, Erin Clute and husband Jason, Paula Findley, Megann Findley and partner Eddie Sweet, and Jace Findley and wife Allison. His ten grandchildren were an important part of his life. He is also survived by his sister Paula Bruner, husband Carmen and 2 nephews of Grandview, TX. His brother J- Lyn Findley and wife Candance, 2 nieces and a nephew of Houston, TX.
A memorial service will be delayed until May 1, 2021 at Optimist Baseball Park in Waxahachie from 3-5pm. In lieu of flowers a baseball scholarship in Mike’s name has been established with 817 Sports baseball organization.
