Maudine Preston Hill

January 20, 1931 — November 15, 2023

Waxahachie

On November 15, 2023, Maudine Preston Hill passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home in Waxahachie, Texas, at the age of 92.

She was born in Edgewood, Texas, on January 20, 1931, to Maude and Ernest Preston.  On June 4, 1950, she married Lester Vernon Hill in Edgewood, Texas. They went on to have two children, Jerry Douglas and David Preston Hill. She had a lengthy career in accounting and management but took the greatest pride in her work with Stinson Plumbing, working with them for over 35 years. She attended Hampton Road Baptist Church in DeSoto, Texas, and then later became a member of Pathway Baptist Church in Waxahachie, Texas.

She cared deeply for her family, friends, neighbors, church congregations, and her work. She did this not out of obligation but because of who she was. She was the caregiver. She always made sure everybody was taken care of. She loved singing in the choir of her church and playing 42 and bunco with her friends.

Maudine is survived by her son David Preston Hill and five grandchildren: Anthony and wife Laurie Hill, Jason and wife Lacey Hill, Jennifer and husband Joe Adamson, Brandi and husband Beau Williams, Wendy and husband Owen Pontley, and ten great-grandchildren, Leia and Gabriel Hill, Zack and Madison Betts, Natalie Hill, Kristine and Graham Adamson, Briley and Blaze Williams, and Lucy Pontley, and one great great grandchild, Grayson Betts.

Maudine was predeceased by her parents, eight siblings, husband Lester Vernon Hill of 64 years, and her firstborn son Jerry Douglas Hill.
