Marvin Willmon

Marvin Wayne Willmon, age 77, of Midlothian, Texas went home to the Lord on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.  He was surrounded by family members that will miss him dearly.  Wayne was born in Fort Worth, Texas on November 8, 1944 to Marvin Nathan and Sybil Mercedes Willmon.

Wayne grew up in Fort Worth and attended Paschal High School where he was a skilled athlete, playing football, basketball and tennis.  Also while at Paschal High School he was the editor of the school newspaper and played the trombone in the Paschal Panther Marching Band and the Stage Band.  After graduating from high school Wayne attended Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Aggie Core and he played the trombone in the Aggie Marching Band.

Wayne served his country in Vietnam from 1966 - 1968.  When he returned from Vietnam he went to work with his father and grandfather at their family owned business, American Conveyor, as an engineer and draftsman.  Wayne moved his family to Waxahachie, TX in 1979 and continued his engineering career as Willmon Construction Services, Inc. He became a longstanding member of First Baptist Church in 1980 where he most recently served on the board and helped in the construction of the newly relocated First Baptist Church.  Wayne also spent many happy years teaching the Genesis Sunday School.

Wayne loved to travel, he loved to play and listen to music - he was self taught on the piano, he loved spending time with his family and friends and going to TCU football games.

Wayne married Nornita Tapp in July of 1995 and they shared almost 27 years together.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Sybil Willmon of Fort Worth, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Nornita Willmon of Midlothian, Texas, daughter, Tracy Willmon Phillips and her husband Rodney of Ovilla, son, Troy Willmon of Midlothian, step-son, Greg Tapp and his wife Stefanie of Corinth, step-son, Kendall Tapp and his wife Jennifer of Plano. Granddaughters Jessica Phillips Hutchison and her husband Jacob and Wayne’s only great grandchild, Jaxsten Hutchison of Ovilla, Kellie Phillips of Ovilla and Jenna, Molly, and Kenley Tapp of Plano. Wayne is also survived by two sisters: Carolyn Welcher of Venus, Texas and Patricia Bean and her husband Joe of Alvarado, Texas. A brother-in-law Roy Mears and his wife Kathy of Lubbock, Texas.  Many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
