Marvin Harris

Marvin Talmadge Harris, 88, of Waxahachie, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023. Everyone called him Talmadge. He was born in the Buena Vista/Sardis area of Ellis County on March 26, 1934. He graduated from Waxahachie High School in May 1951 and worked at Flexsteel Furniture for over 35 years.

Talmadge served in the U.S. Army from August 1956 to August 1958. He was a faithful member of Brown Street Church of Christ in Waxahachie.

Talmadge was preceded in death by his parents, Oscie Newton Harris and Beulah Eckeberger Harris; brothers Aaron A. Allen, Billy Jack Allen and Charles Newton Harris; sister Hazel Jo Mitchell.

He is survived by his sister, Bobby Joyce Griffin; sister-in-law Marilyn Harris; nieces Linda Davis, Brenda Ford, Sharon Byrd, Joni Henson and Lori Holland; nephews Dwight Allen, Wayne Jackson, Jackie Allen, Gary Allen and Kyle Harris.
