Marianna J. (Nan) Davis, age 76

Mrs. Davis passed away Wednesday night at the Baylor Medical Center, Dallas. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri to James Herbert and Gertrude Irene (Pritchard) Johnston. Marianna was raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; graduating from McKinley High School and Young School of Commercial Design in Dallas.. She and A. Dupree Davis, Jr. were married September 1, 1951 in Dallas, Texas. While in Dallas Mrs. Davis was employed with Connecticut General Life and John Hancock Life Insurance Companies. She also had Davis's Flowers Floral Shop in Grand Prairie. Her main job was housekeeping and raising children. They moved to Waxahachie in 1983. She owned Hidden Treasures Antique Shop in Forreston. Mrs. Davis worked with Peter Wolfe Studios to design puppets for children's productions.

Her survivors include: husband, Dupree Davis of Waxahachie; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan Leigh and Jim Crittenden of Garland, Mary Cathryn and Gary Peterson of Collierville, Tennessee; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Nancy Johnston of Marion, Iowa, Robert and Mary Ann Johnston of Richardson, Texas; grandchildren, Brian Peterson, Sara Tarver and husband Michael, Eric Peterson, Andrew Crittenden, and lifelong friend, Rose Imsland. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Saturday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of her Life will be Graveside Services at the Waxahachie City Cemetery at 2 PM Sunday, October 8, 2006. Interment will follow.
