Marcus Sykora

Marcus Leroy Sykora, 75, went home to be with the lord on Thursday April 20, 2023.  He passed away peacefully in Red Oak, TX surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with adenocarcinoma cancer.

Mark was born on October 7, 1947 in Ft. Worth, TX to Leroy Anthony and Mary Ruth Sykora.  The family relocated to Lubbock, TX where he graduated high school.  Directly after high school, he enlisted into the Marine Corp. at the age of 17.  Mark was deployed overseas and fought in the Vietnam War from 1966-1968.  He was wounded in action when he valiantly drew enemy fire to save his platoon.  He received the purple heart, silver star, and numerous other accommodations.  Mark met the love of his life Annette at DBU and were married in 1968.  They welcomed their first child, Anthony Wayne in October 1971.  He received his bachelor degree in applied sciences from Mountain View College in 1973.  Mark worked most of his working career with Weathermatic Plastic Company as the nighttime plant supervisor.

Mark enjoyed bass fishing, motorcycle riding, and playing 42.  He supported several different veteran organizations.

Marcus is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Annette Sykora, parents Leroy & Mary Sykora, sister Deborah Jean.  He is survived by his son Anthony Wayne and wife Kimberly; brother Ronald David Sykora and wife Barbara; sister Sondra Sugg and husband Ron; granddaughters, Kaylee Krumnow and husband Garrett, Ashlyn Rae and Avery Elizabeth Sykora; 2 great granddaughters Adalynn Kate and Presley Jo Krumnow; and several nieces and nephews.
