Lona Lee Clare passed from this life to her Heavenly Home on August 17, 2025 in Waxahachie, Texas. She was born on April 18, 1940 in Ontario, Oregon to Gerald and Thora (Wilson) Schubert.
Lona moved to Sacramento, California as a young child. She lived in Sacramento until 1999 when she moved to Reno, Nevada and married Denny Clare. She loved going to her cabin with her husband and family. She also loved to crochet and was very good at it; she even made hats and scarves! Her husband Denny passed away on August 14, 2014, and shortly after Lona moved in with her daughter Kellie and husband in Waxahachie, Texas. Lona was saved and baptized at Bible Baptist Church Waxahachie, Texas.
Lona is survived by daughter, Kellie Harris and husband Ricky; son, Kyle Wipf and wife Rachael; grandchildren: Justin and Clarissa Harris; Kyle and Kayla Harris; Kody and Meghan Wipf; and Adahlyn Wipf; great-grandchildren: Josiah, Caelyn, and Jedidiah Harris; Penelope Wipf; and nephew, Darin Quinton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Denny Clare; sister, Donna Rutherford; and grandson, Zachary Harris.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Bible Baptist Church, 1400 FM 1446, Waxahachie, Texas 75167 with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service at 9:30 a.m. also at the church. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Collinsville, Cooke County, Texas.
