Linda Troy Obituary

Linda Lee Troy, 83, of Waxahachie, TX, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Waxahachie, TX. Linda is survived by husband Tom Troy, sister Brenda Lou Barnett, brother and sister in law: Roy and Jean Knauber, sister in law:  Mary Troy, brother in law: Chuck Ribelin and many nieces and nephews.

Born August 12, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan to military parents, she traveled frequently and lived in numerous places around the world. She attended Wesleyan University in Connecticut and Western Reserve University - Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1965, she became a Public Health Nurse in Dallas, TX.

Linda met Tom and they were married on January 6th, 1968, in Dallas, TX. They lived in different areas of Texas, but their favorite seemed to be living on their land in Hamilton, TX. A beautiful place with live oak trees, a creek, numerous fossils, arrowheads, and lots of critters running around, they enjoyed the rural life for many years. In 2015 they moved to Waxahachie to be a little closer to family and a larger city.

Linda was very talented and enjoyed many arts and crafts. She was an excellent spinner and knitter. She knitted hats for the family from wool she had spun herself. She painted, cross stitched and embroidered, to name just a few, and enjoyed taking classes and learning new crafts.

Linda’s most notable hobby was her love of reading. She was an avid reader and enjoyed books and magazines on many different topics, including current events. She truly enjoyed non-fiction, books she would learn from, and was always reading multiple books at the same time. Her memory was incredible, and she loved to share information and have discussions with family and friends about what she was reading. Linda had a soft spot for animals. She loved all animals, and took such good care of her cat Susie Q. She sent donations to many different animal charities to try to help so that no animals were ever in need.

Linda cared deeply for each of her family and friends. With a kind word when needed, a card sent or sending a book or magazine that she thought someone would enjoy, she always let people know how much she cared and would be there to help if needed.

The most inspiring part of knowing Linda though, was seeing her love and devotion for her husband Tom. It was beautiful to see. They were truly partners, and even when her own health was in question, her first concern was to be sure that Tom was taken care of and had everything he needed first before she would take any steps for herself.

She will be very much missed by her husband, family, and friends.

Linda’s Celebration of Life will be held at Wayne Boze Funeral Home Chapel Room, located at 1826 West Highway 287 Business, Waxahachie, TX, 75165, on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 2:00pm. There will be a small reception afterwards for family and friends to share wonderful memories of Linda.
