Lenna Marie Sharp

April 12, 1933 — June 16, 2025

Waxahachie, Texas

Lenna Marie Towry Wilkins Sharp, 92, of Waxahachie, Texas passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025.

Marie was born April 12, 1933, in McIntosh County, Oklahoma (Carr Creek School District). She was raised from a humble life of picking watermelons and cotton with her siblings to help support their family and collected metal for the war efforts of World War II. Playtime was not often, but when they could, she and her siblings would get a flat piece of lumber and the iron round from a wagon wheel and roll it around.

She was fiercely stubborn, very independent, sometimes impatient, a perfectionist, but most of all she was a kind, loving, classy, intelligent, and a beautiful lady with an infectious laugh, a big heart, and a great listener to all. She was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and would speak of their accomplishments in life.

She could cook the most beautiful and delicious desserts, but if it didn’t meet her standards, in the trash it would go and she would begin again, hence the perfectionist in her. She loved to work in her beautiful flower gardens and sew beautiful quilts for her loved ones with much pride.

She gave her heart to Christ in 1952 at the Lawnwood Freewill Baptist on the Sand Springs line in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was baptized under the ministry of Pastor Gene Winfrey and was married in this Church by Pastor Gene Winfrey. She was an active member of Pathway Baptist Church in Waxahachie, Texas.

She graduated from Eufaula High School in 1951 and attended Draughon’s Business College in Tulsa, OK completing the Secretarial Course. She was employed by Carter Oil Company (which became Humble Oil and then Exxon) in Tulsa, OK; then worked for Sinclair Oil Company until their merger with Atlantic Richfield; then worked for Union Petroleum and several years with Apache/Apexco/Natomas oil companies as a Landman in a man’s world.

Parents: Cinda Lou Ashley Towry and Thomas Silas Towry, both deceased.

Survived by daughter Beverly Marie Wilkins Dunn and son-in-law John Ray Dunn; daughter-in-law Tena Westfall Wilkins; grandsons Jeremy Wilkins, Justin Wilkins, Landon Wilkins & Joseph Barnes; granddaughter Jamie Lynn Barnes Peterson; great-granddaughters Presley Wilkins, Evalyn & Tori; and great-grandsons Derrick Wilkins, Bryar Barnes & Braxton Barnes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
