Laurie Gayle Stewart McDonald, 59, of Midlothian, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 30, 2024. Laurie was preceded in death by her father, Eldon Stewart, and sister, April Stewart. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Paul McDonald; her children, Meghan Simpson (Brian) of Maypearl,TX, Kathryn Rush (Trevor) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Zackary McDonald (Tina-Marie) of Waxahachie, TX; her grandchildren, Mason, Aubrey, Clementine, Charlotte, Sullivan, and Scarlett; her mother, Caron Jean (James); sister, Sarah Larsen (Kyle), and Russell Stewart (Donna), Junior Jean, and Robert Jean (Megan).

 

Laurie was born on December 7, 1964 to Eldon Stewart and Caron Cornelius in Abilene, TX. She was a 1983 graduate of McArthur High School in Irving, TX. In 1987, Laurie met her soulmate, Paul, and they married a year later in Dallas, TX. Laurie and Paul raised three children, Meghan, Katy, and Zack. After 28 years at the US Department of Justice, she retired and spent her time enjoying her family, especially being Nonnie to her 6 grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy.

 

She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to everyone she met. Laurie gave a sense of home to everyone who walked through her door. She loved nothing more than to gather with loved ones over a home cooked meal, or conversing over a cup of coffee on the back porch. She knew no strangers and was a loving friend to all.

 

Services will be held at Wayne Boze Funeral Home on April 4 at 3pm.
