Larry Wayne Burton, 61, of Waxahachie, Texas passed away suddenly on March 17, 2021, surrounded by his family while on their first family vacation in Orlando, Florida.
Larry was born to parents Bucky and Jerie Burton, on July 6, 1959, in Dallas, Texas. Larry was a self-taught mechanical and chemical engineer who specialized in designing oil refineries. On October 31, 1983, he married Teresa Marie De La Rosa. They raised two children, son Joshua and daughter Brittany.
Larry loved playing golf with his son in law Kyle, church league and watching whenever he had the opportunity. Many remember him even playing with his oxygen tank by his side. He golfed up until his bilateral lung transplant on February 25, 2018, after which he was no longer able to enjoy it. The doctors encouraged Larry to live his life to the fullest and do what he enjoyed, so he took up fishing. Larry took every opportunity to fish and began making frequent weekend trips to the Rio Grande. Larry has a special trait that not a lot of fathers have, he is a family man. He always liked to hang out with his family. He enjoyed going out to eat and having fun. When him and Terri would go out of town, he wanted to see his family as soon as they got back, even if they were gone for just few days. Larry made sure that he went to his grandson’s soccer games and school activities. He was known for his generosity, intelligence, creativity, and most of all, love for his family.
Larry is survived by his wife Terri of 37 years, son Joshua, daughter Brittany, son in law Kyle, grandsons Josiah and Myles, parents Jerie and stepfather Earl Castle, brother Gary Burton, four stepbrothers, three half-sisters, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone. His legacy will live on through his kids and grandchildren and he will truly be missed by all who knew him.
