Kermit Fonteno

Kermit (PawPaw) Fonteno passed away at the age of 83 on January 7, 2020. He was born on February 9, 1936 in Port Acres, Texas to Tony and Lula Mae.

After working his way through the University of Texas Law School, he graduated Summa Cum Laude in January 1965. He practiced family law for many years before he became a United States Attorney. He practiced law for the United States for 20 years before retiring in 1999.

Kermit married the love of his life, his “Sweetie,” Ouida Gail on August 29, 1980.

Kermit is survived by his wife, Ouida; daughter, Paula Weatherly and her husband John; son, Brit Smith and his wife Sherry; grandsons, Blake Ness and Nath Weatherly and his wife Amanda; grand-daughters, Brandi Lockwood and her husband Barrett, Jaclyn Ness and Elizabeth Smith and her fiancé David, and Michaela Crumpler and her husband Jameson. He was blessed to be a great grandfather to 6 great grand-daughters, Megan, Emma, Madelynn, Kinley, Scarlett and Harper, as well as a great grandson, Wyatt.

Kermit is preceded in death by grandsons Cody and Tristen Smith and Jonathon Ness.

Visitation will be held at Wayne Boze Funeral Home Sunday, January 12, 2020 from 6 pm until 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel at Wayne Boze Funeral Home Monday, January 13, 2020 at 10:30 am followed by burial at Red Oak Cemetery.
