Joellyn graduated from Maypearl High School and attended college at Tarleton State University. She was married to C.B. Poynor on October 12, 1957, in Maypearl, Texas at her parent’s home. Joellyn was an admirable housewife and worked hard raising her children as well as working as a seamstress. She was a longtime member of the Maypearl Church of Christ. Once the family moved to Waxahachie, she and C.B. became loyal members of the College Street Church of Christ, which is now known as the Brown Street Church of Christ. She also volunteered to cook for the Thursday Meals ministry. Joellyn had a passion for sewing and she was an amazing seamstress. She sewed many outfits for her children, her grandchildren, and for many other family and friends. She also loved to knit. She made some of the most beautiful throws and blankets. She diligently knitted a blanket for every grandbaby as well as babies within her family and church. Joellyn loved to play games. She grew up playing games with her brother and cousins. She passed her love of games on to her grandchildren and created many wonderful memories. Joellyn loved her family dearly. Her grandchildren were blessed to spend a lot of time with her, especially during the summer months. She taught them so much. They adored their Granny.
