Red Oak

Jimmie Mae Cavin followed the angels into heaven, on June 3rd, 2022, from her home in Red Oak, Texas. She was born to J.C. and Mae Powledge on June 21, 1941, in Trinidad, Colorado. She met her husband, Don, at Silver State Baptist youth camp, at the age of 13.  They were married August 18, 1957, in Sterling Colorado, at the young ages of 16 and 18.  In November, they headed for Baptist Bible College, in Springfield, Missouri. She accepted Christ in December 1957 surprising her family, as she had been in church all her life.

In April 1960, Debbie was born. That May, Don graduated college, was ordained and they began a lifetime of ministry. In October 1961, Doug was born, followed by Dwayne in November 1965, and in December 1966, Donna completed the family.

During her lifetime she enjoyed, reading her bible daily, playing piano and organ, singing, cooking, entertaining, sewing, and traveling. She loved flowers, chocolates, watching football, and spoiling her dogs. She was always impeccably dressed and was increasingly distraught as she could no longer wear make-up and heels. She continued serving the Lord in ministry, for over 60 years, until her recent death.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don R Cavin, after 54 years of marriage. Her parents, in-laws, and grandparents, 2 aunts, 4 uncles, her sister, Carol, her niece, Heidi, her infant grandson, James, her great grandson, Carlos, and her cherished dogs: Duke, Minnie, Lady, Bimbo, Hunter, and Kimo.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses; Debbie and Jerry Ducklow, Doug and Diantha Cavin, Dwayne and Glori Cavin, and Donna and Tony Maple; her sister Jacquelyn and Chuck Johnson; 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; and her much loved Chiweenie, Freeda, who continues to be spoiled by her great granddaughter, Lavinia, in Hurst, Texas
