Jasper Mccoy

October 14, 1925 — May 10, 2018

Jasper Frank McCoy, age 92, passed away on Thursday, May 10th. Frank was born on October 14th, 1925 to Sherman and Willie (Brinson) McCoy in Port Arthur Texas. Frank graduated from Waxahachie High School and worked at his father's dairy, McCoy's Dairy. He then attended Hill Jr. College in Hillsboro where he met his future wife, Margie (Keenom) McCoy. They were married on August 2nd, 1947 in Waxahachie. From that reunion came: James Franklin, Kathi Marie, and Conni Sue. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 through 1946, where he received an honorable discharge as an aviation radioman. Frank graduated from SMU in 1951 where he earned an electrical engineering degree. He went on to obtain a Professional Engineer's License and was a member of The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers. Frank retired from Tyler Refrigeration in the 1980's. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Waxahachie where he served faithfully in many roles, too numerous to count, but including Sunday school teacher and lay minister. In addition, Frank was an active member of the Gideon's Society, and Ellis County Christian Men's Fellowship. He also served on the board of the Wesleyan Homes in Georgetown for elder care and the Methodist Children's home in Waco. Frank was also a Boy Scout Leader in the 1950's. He was a member of the Optimist Club, serving in the role as president at one point and he delivered ice every weekend to various baseball and football games, with his daughters in tow. As Frank had an undying servant's heart he also had a call to civic duty. He served on the Waxahachie School Board, where he served as President and oversaw the building of 3 schools; he was a city council member/Mayor Protem; served on the Planning & Zoning Commission; served on the Appraisal District and was named Waxahachie's Outstanding Citizen of the year in 1984.

Frank was a pillar of the community and was beloved by many. Frank's mission in life was to bring as many as possible to salvation. One of his dear friends recently commented that Frank was the Billy Graham of Waxahachie.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Frank's honor to the Gideon's Society or the First United Methodist Church of Waxahachie.
