James Loyd Strength
October 8, 1939 – June 22, 2026
It is with great joy that we announce the passing of James Loyd Strength, who went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 22, 2026, at the age of 86. While we deeply mourn our loss on Earth, we rejoice in knowing that he is finally resting in the presence of God, healed and whole.
Born October 8, 1939, James lived a life rooted in faith, devotion, and love for his family. He was a faithful servant who walked closely with the Lord, and his life was a testament to the verse in 2 Timothy 4:7: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
For over 40 years, James was a dedicated Real Estate Professional, but his true calling was the love he poured into his family and his community. He was a long-time member of Farley Street/Pathway Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and shared the light of Christ with everyone he met. He often helped those moving into the area not only find their physical homes but also their church homes, regardless of their denomination. He dedicated his entire life to others.
He is survived by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Linda whom he shared in marriage for 66 years; his children, Kevin Strength and his wife Jean, Phillip Strength and his wife Michelle; Sister-in-law Carolyn Strength, her children Tina Jette and her husband Steven, Michael Strength and his wife Kathryn, Amy Strength, his grandchildren, Chelsea Mathews and her husband Dan of BelAir, Maryland and their two boys, Ryder and Colt, Samantha Strength of Austin, TX, Gunther Strength and his daughter Briar James Strength of Waxahachie, Chance Strength and Kathryn Strength of Waxahachie, TX, extended family and a community of friends who were blessed by his love and kindness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fanoy and Corene Strength; several brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins; and his brother, Darrell Strength, all of whom he loved dearly.
A service celebrating James's life and his entry into glory will be held at Pathway Baptist Church (1116 Brown St, Waxahachie, TX 75165) on Friday, June 26, 2026. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 10:00 AM. A graveside service will follow at the Wilson Family Cemetery on West 287 Business (located within Gateway Memorial Park).
In Lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the building fund for Pathway Baptist Church in Waxahachie. Dad was a longstanding member and served as Deacon alongside his family in Christ.
