James Donald Quistad, 92 was welcomed into his Savior's arms on September 21st, 2026 in Midlothian Texas.

James “Jim” was born November 1st, 1933 in Granite Falls, Minnesota to Norwegian immigrants Edward and Olena (Thorson) Quistad. He spent his youth growing up on the farm. In later years, the family moved to Willmar but soon back to a farm in Atwater, Minnesota where he graduated from Atwater High School. He was class president, captain of the basketball team, captain of the football team and he also played Hockey and baseball. Jim helped his family on the farm but, his career aspirations did not include farming. He was active in the church youth group where he met his wife of 69 years, Maxine Swanson. The couple married and moved to Minneapolis to attend North Central Bible College and start a family. Although Jim went to North Central planning to go into ministry, he felt a call to go into the business world. He then attended The University of Minnesota for his business degree. He made the world his mission field and was always involved in the local church. While in college he worked for Brown & Bigelow and then Random Specialties where he started as Janitor and eventually became Vice President and then President. He later worked for North Central as Director of Christian Financial Planning. His career in Financial Planning continued with CBN and the General Council of the Assemblies of God.

Jim was a dedicated husband and father and served as the solid rock for the family. He loved to travel and take camping vacations in a tent camper and later a motorhome and attended the many musical performances of his family. He loved to fish and hunt and ride motorcycles with friends. Maxine especially enjoyed riding on the back of his motorcycle. He served as the church song leader and other roles within the church. He was also in a quartet that traveled around the twin cities singing with a distinctive baritone voice. His sons, Jeff and Mike joined him playing drums and guitar.

In 1999 Maxine and Jim moved to South Daytona near their son Mike & family where he continued to work in financial planning until he was 70 yrs old. They kept a summer place in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota and enjoyed spending time with son Mark & family. They lived in Florida for 20 years, enjoyed being near the beach, and being active in their church.

In 2019 they moved to Texas to be near their daughter Jan & family. At their senior residence, Jim was often asked to sing for the weekly hymn sing and made many good friends.

Preceding Jim in death was his loving wife Maxine of 69 years, parents, Edward and Olena Quistad, son, Jeff Quistad, siblings, Eldor, Chester, Bennet, Stella, Edgar, LaVonne, Kermit and Ruthie. He is survived by his children, son Mike and wife Sheri of Ocala, Florida, daughter Jan Bridges and husband Kermit of Waxahachie, Texas, son Mark and wife Carleen of Bloomington, Minnesota, and daughter in law, Kathy Quistad of Escondido, California. He is also survived by many grandchildren he holds dear, Tyler and Cody Quistad, James (wife Brinkley) and Forrest (wife KeeLee) Bridges, and Morgan (and husband Carter) Schmidt and Connor Quistad.

He was thrilled to know two great-grandchildren: Blythe Bridges and Maeve Bridges.
