Waxahachie

James Lowell Brown, 90, of Waxahachie, TX passed away peacefully on September 8th, 2025 in Waxahachie, TX.

James (Jim) was born on January 14th, 1935 in Lingo, NM to Floyd and Fannie Brown. He attended Lingo and Causey schools, and Eastern New Mexico University. He served in the U.S. Army 4th Armored Division in Germany. He had a successful career as a Purchasing Agent. He retired from Placid Oil Company in Dallas, TX after 26 years of service and retired from Corrugated Services in Forney, TX after 21 years of service.

While Jim had a successful career, his proudest roles were as a husband, father, and PaPa. He was a loving and devoted husband. He was a loving father who provided great encouragement to his children and was always willing to help them in any way he could. His favorite role of all was that of PaPa. He was always the proud supporter of his grandchildren cheering them on as they played soccer, football, baseball, and volleyball; and danced in recitals and halftime performances. When his buddies were little, he spent countless hours playing with them at the park and walking them to the corner store to buy a treat. He loved his family and friends and spent many hours each day, calling to check in on them. He had a warm soul and a smile that lit up in his eyes when he greeted you. He leaves a legacy of warmth, love, and unwavering commitment.

He is survived by his wife, Dianah; daughters Dana Dyess and husband Brad, Shannon Moses and husband Steve, and Sandra Moore and husband Mark; grandchildren William Atkins IV, Dylan Atkins, Lauren Adams, Delaney Moses, Emma Moses, Gracie Dyess, Dustin Moore, Danielle O’Dell, and Deanna Moore; 7 great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Vickie Guest, Lanelle Munger, Martha Whatley, Karen Culpepper; brother-in-law Dennis Culpepper; longtime friend Al DiMiero; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Fannie Brown; sisters Kay Brown and Jim Ann Gardner; brothers Gerry and Gene Brown; son Monte Brown, and brother-in-law and best friend, John Guest.

Jim was a Christian and proud member of The Avenue Church in Waxahachie, TX.
