Jake Joseph Escamilla

December 9, 1951 — April 25, 2025

Forreston

Jake Escamilla passed away on the morning of April 25th 2025 at the age of 73 surrounded by his family.

Jake lived his life rooted in his faith, guided by his favorite verse, John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” His love for the Lord was his first calling, with his love for family following closely behind.

He proudly served 35 years with Dallas Fire-Rescue as a firefighter, and paramedic. He retired with the rank of “Second Driver”. He then joined the Dallas Retired Fire Fighters Association Honor Guard in 2012. For over a decade he served retired firefighters ceremonial services. He also served as the Fire Chief of Emergency Service District 6 for 14 years where he lovingly earned the name of “Chief Paw Paw”. He dedicated his life to the service of others for the better part of half of a century. He took great pride in leading and training the next generation fire fighter. He was an active member, and deacon of the Avalon Baptist Church for 33 years. Jake loved farming, ranching, riding horses, and producing hay. He was a member, and president of the Ellis County Equine Association. He was a member of several horse clubs over the years. Jake was also a member of the Ellis County Gun Club. He was an avid outdoorsman, horseman, livestock producer, and loved spending time with his 4 legged buddy “Buster” His greatest pride was his role as a faithful servant, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
