Hubert Chambers, born in Italy, TX on December 30, 1938 to Cecil Chambers Sr. and Rena Bell Wright as one of six children, died on July 17, 2021 at his home in Waxahachie, Tx surrounded by his family .Hubert married the love of his life, Hugh Lane Merharg, on November 27, 1959 in Italy, Texas. Hubert and Hugh Lane had two children, Janet Napps and Steven Chambers .Hubert worked for Texas Power and Light for 27 years as a foreman before he retired in 1992. He continued the same work for Red Simpson and Flowers Construction for several more years .Hubert and Hugh Lane purchased and operated H&H Grocery, formerly known as Huskin’s Drive In, where Hubert served the people of Ellis County as the smiling face behind the counter for over 20 years .As a lifelong Baptist and devout Christian, Hubert was a deacon at South Prong Baptist Church for 42 years and at South Lake Baptist Church for 10 years. In his spare time, he went fishing, tended to his garden and spoiled his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Hubert is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Hugh Lane Chambers, his daughter Janet Napps and husband Bobby, his son Steven Chambers and wife Cheryl, grandchildren Laura Black and husband Jeremy, Justin Chambers and wife Jackie, Chris Napps, Stephanie Chambers and Leanna Napps and great-grandchildren Sarah Wright, Kaelanni Jones, Allison Chambers, Zoey Jones and Emerson Chambers, sister Rena Fay Tapp, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his mother and father, his siblings Cecil Chambers Jr., JW Chambers, Alton Wayne Chambers, and Nancy Ayres, and his two favorite dogs Mac and Candy Chambers.
Pall Bearers will be Justin Chambers, Chris Napps, Johnny Chambers, Bobby Chambers, Alton Chambers Jr., and David Phillips.
