Gwene Alyne Amyx, 89, went home to be with God on Friday, February 18, after a lengthy illness. She graduated from Sanger High School and North Texas State Teachers College. She married Alberle E. Amyx on March 4, 1939 in Sanger, Texas. She taught Home Economics and Elementary Education in several school districts in Texas, finishing her career in DeSoto. She retired in 1968. She was a faithful servant of God, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and caring teacher. She touched many lives with her caring and gentle spirit. She was a member of the Church of Christ, and she worked years teaching and corresponding in the World Bible School. She is survived by her husand, Alberle E. Amyx of Seven Points; one son, John C. Amyx and wife Lola of Seven Points; and three daughters, Abby Pennington and husband Bobby of Orlando,FL.; Janice Nance and husband Nathan of Midlothian; Jill Snider and husband Skip of Seven Points. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2-5 PM at the Red Oak Funeral Home, 120 N. Hwy 342, in Red Oak, TX. on Sunday, February 20. Graveside services will be at the Boliver Cemetery in Bolivar, Texas on Monday, February 21 2005, at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the World Bible School, P. O. Box 2169, Cedar Park, TX. 78630.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Red Oak Funeral Home.
