Frances Jean Munoz

October 4, 1939 — March 24, 2024

Red Oak, TX

Frances “Jean” Munoz, 84, of Red Oak, TX was born on October 4, 1939, in San Antonio, TX and passed away peacefully on March 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.  She was the youngest of eight children born to Harold E. Kelley Sr. and Felice Bueno Kelley.

Jean went to Fox Tech High School in San Antonio where she met her high school sweetheart, Steve Munoz, in 1956. Together they had four beautiful children: Elizabeth Jean Mooneyham, Steven Munoz, Larry Munoz, and Charles Munoz.

Jean had a long career with Southwestern Bell and retired to do what she loved most: take care of her grandchildren. Jean returned to work when they grew up and she was one of the first Transportation Screening Administration (“TSA”) security officers hired after the 9/11 tragedy. She loved the job and interacting with the public.

Jean was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

She loved spending time with her family and held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family was the light of Jean’s life. She was known for being an incredible cook, and nobody ever went hungry at Jean and Steve’s house.

Jean joins her parents, her husband of 63 years, her brothers Harold Kelley Jr., Roy Kelley, Walter Kelley, Herbert Kelley, and her sisters Ruthie Kelley, Marcia Racheli in heaven.

Her sense of humor, love, and guidance will be deeply missed by those who mourn her loss: daughter, Elizabeth Jean Mooneyhan; sons: Steven and Connie Munoz, Larry Munoz, Charles and Leesa Munoz; grandchildren: Richard Munoz, Felicia Seal, Karen Munoz, Steven Munoz Jr., Benjamin Munoz, Zachary Munoz, Samantha Munoz, Traci and Dietrich Albrand, Christi and Kris Crich, and Jaimi Munoz; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Chris, Ricky, Sebastian, Destiny, Marissa, J.D., Skyler, Jesse, Alexis, Joseph, Lola, Marie, Blayne, Kyler, Kru and Jaxon; and great-great-grandchildren: Nikolas and Elliot; brother Harold S. Kelley, her sisters, Ruth Jasso and  Una Kelley-Trevino; and many close nieces and nephews.
