Janell Taylor

February 12, 1937 — October 22, 2025

Waxahachie

Janell Nicholas Taylor peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in Bedford, Texas. She was born on February 12, 1937, in Dallas, Texas, to the late George B. and Edna Nicholas.

Janell grew up in Irving, Texas, where she attended school and graduated from Irving High School. It was there that she met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Taylor. The two were married in March 1954 and shared 62 wonderful years together before Bob’s passing in 2016. Their love was a beautiful example of faith, commitment, and joy.

Janell had a tender heart and a lifelong passion for children’s ministry. She touched countless young lives through her work with Child Evangelism Fellowship, Good News Clubs, 5-Day Clubs, and Vacation Bible School, as well as through many years of teaching elementary Sunday School. She also loved singing praises as a dedicated member of her church choir. Janell and Bob were proud charter members of Wesley Evangelical Methodist Church in Hurst, where they raised their family in faith and fellowship.

After their children were grown, Janell and Bob moved to Waxahachie, where Bob built her dream home — a peaceful retreat by the lake, surrounded by nature and plenty of room for their grandchildren to explore. In Waxahachie, Janell continued serving the Lord through teaching Sunday School and volunteering with AWANA at Waxahachie Bible Church.

Janell’s green thumb was well-known to all who knew her. She found great joy in tending her gardens and sharing her love of flowers and plants with others. Her home bloomed not only with color but with warmth and kindness, and she blessed so many through her gentle spirit and generous heart.

Janell is survived by her beloved children: Debbie Hathaway and her husband Marty of Bedford, TX; Theresa Clarkston and her husband Larry of Roanoke, TX; Cindy Anderson of Waxahachie, TX; and Mike Taylor and his wife Danielle of Trophy Club, TX. She was a devoted grandmother to seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and she will also be lovingly remembered by many extended family members and dear friends.

Janell was preceded in death by one brother: Benton Nicholas and a sister Rosemary Page.

Janell’s life was a beautiful testimony of faith, love, and service. Her gentle presence and joyful heart will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew her.
