Fannie Mae Hitt, 92 of Waxahachie, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2008. She was born to the late James Otho "Jack" & Mattie Mae John Phillips on February 25, 1916 in Italy, Texas.
Fannie Mae attended school in Italy and graduated from Italy High School in 1934. Fannie graduated from Neilson's Beauty School in Dallas in 1940. She married James Harry Hitt on November 7, 1940. She and Harry lived in the Five Points and Bethel communities for over 67 years.
From 1940 to 1945 she worked at Mrs. Poole's Beauty Shop while her husband was serving overseas in the Army. She was secretary for the Bethel - Buena Vista Water Supply Corporation for 16 years. A long-time member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, she loved her church. She liked to travel and made many trips with family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Our angel will be missed.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Harry Hitt of Waxahachie; her daughter, Judy Voss and her husband, Dick; sisters-in-law, Nell Phillips and Ruth Phillips; her grandchildren, Mark Voss and his wife, Kim; great grandchildren, Charlotte & Everett Voss; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her 3 brothers, Wayne, James and Leon Phillips; 2 sisters, Margaret Heald & Imogene Phillips; and her grandson, Craig Voss.
A Celebration of her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Nell Partin, Rev. Bob Rainey and Rev. Marvin Mott officiating. Interment will be held at the Red Oak Cemetery in Red Oak.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2008 at Wayne Boze Funeral home in Waxahachie.
The family has requested that memorials be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall Building Fund, 534 Bethel Road, Waxahachie, Texas 75167.
