Dorris Harris

Dorris Evelin Harris passed from this life on July 7, 2022 in Mansfield, Texas. She was born in Cooke County, Texas on September 4, 1938 to Estus and Vera Baughman. She attended schools in Dallas and Wilmer-Hutchins, living in the Dallas area most of her life.

She was married to Jimmy Harris in 1956. They were married almost 65 years at the time of his passing. She was the Church Organist for the Rolling Hills Baptist Church in Lancaster, where her father was the Pastor, for many years. She loved the Lord and prayed fervently for her children and family. Dorris loved to cook. The words “bring a covered dish” meant bring enough delicious food to feed at least 30 people. She loved to sew, and she loved camping in the trailer. She and Jimmy went on many camping adventures.

Dorris is survived by a son, Ricky Harris and his wife Kellie, her daughter, Gayle Gann and her husband Terry. Grandchildren, Justin and Clarissa Harris, Shanna and Ryan Wies, Tanner and Stephanie Gann, Kyle Harris, and Cooper Gann. She also is survived by 4 great-grandchildren, Aunt Edna Hilliard, Uncle Roy Lee Baughman, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jimmy Harris and grandson Zachary Harris. Special thanks to Heart-to-Heart Hospice for their love and care.
